1. Who we are
Canada Capital Finance ("we", "us") operates a lender-matching network in Canada. We are not a lender and do not make credit decisions. Our offices are at 1 Hunter Street East, Hamilton, Ontario L8N 3W1. We are responsible for the personal information under our control and comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
2. What we collect
When you apply or contact us, we collect:
- Identity and contact information — name, email address, telephone number and province of residence.
- Application information — the amount and purpose of the financing sought, your intended timeframe, and your business or employment and income details.
- Business information — legal business name, industry, time in business and revenue range, for business and commercial applications.
- Credit information — with your consent, credit reports obtained by participating lenders to assess your application.
- Financial documents — bank statements and, where relevant, financial statements or tax filings, requested at the offer stage rather than at application.
- Technical information — IP address and the date and time of your submission, retained for fraud prevention and security.
3. Why we collect it
- To assess your application and determine which funders on our panel may be able to help.
- To contact you about your application by telephone, email and SMS.
- To verify your identity and meet obligations under anti-money-laundering and anti-fraud legislation.
- To administer any facility that is subsequently funded.
- To improve our services and maintain the security of our systems.
4. Who we share it with
We share your information with funders and lenders on our panel for the sole purpose of assessing and, if applicable, funding your application. We also share it with service providers who process it on our behalf — credit bureaus, identity verification services, document storage and communications providers — under contracts limiting their use of it to the services they provide to us.
Subject to this policy, we may also transfer your information to marketing companies with which we do business. Where that transfer is for marketing rather than for assessing your application, you may opt out at any time by writing to contact@canadacapitalfinance.com, and opting out will not affect an application already in progress. We disclose your information to law enforcement or regulators only where required by law or by a valid court order.
5. Consent
You give express consent when you tick the consent box on the application form. That consent covers contacting you, and sharing your information with participating lenders, who may verify it and check your credit, for the purpose of assessing the application.
You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to contact@canadacapitalfinance.com, subject to legal and contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent while an application is in progress will end the application. Withdrawing consent does not affect a facility that has already been funded, which is governed by its own agreement.
6. Electronic communications
We send commercial electronic messages only where you have consented, in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe mechanism, and we action unsubscribe requests within ten business days. Messages relating to an active application or a funded facility are transactional and continue regardless of marketing preferences.
7. How long we keep it
Applications that do not proceed are retained for two years, so that we can respond to queries and demonstrate how a decision was reached. Funded files are retained for seven years after the facility ends, as required by financial recordkeeping legislation. After those periods, information is securely destroyed or irreversibly anonymised.
8. Where it is stored
Your information is stored on servers located in Canada. Some service providers may process information outside Canada, in which case it is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts and law enforcement there. We contract with those providers to maintain comparable protection.
9. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls limiting staff access to what their role requires, logging of access to application records, and regular review of our safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of any breach creating a real risk of significant harm.
10. Your rights
You may:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Withdraw consent, subject to the limits described above.
- Ask how your information has been used and to whom it has been disclosed.
- Complain to us, and then to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Write to contact@canadacapitalfinance.com. We respond within thirty days. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
11. Cookies
This site uses only the cookies necessary to keep it working — including the session cookie that keeps our own staff signed in to the administrative dashboard. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request.
12. Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page with a revised date. Material changes affecting how we use information already collected will be notified to affected applicants by email.
